LARGEST CHESS TOURNAMENT EVER

Cheers to all who participated in the SuperNationals!
There were 5,335 students playing. Georgia had over 260 scholastic players who represented the state quite well.
The competition took place in Nashville, TN over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, April 5-7.
Drew from Whitefield Academy won co-champion status, first place by winning all 7 of his games in the kindergarten to first grade section. Great job Drew for winning the highest level of all individual awards given to Georgia players.
Other students repeated their first place win of the Bughouse Tournament. The Trinity School K-3 under 800 team tied for 10th overall. In that same section multiple Georgians received individual trophies for finishing in the top 35 in the nation. We are proud of you all. There were 20 sections of competition with Georgians showing considerable skill and stamina in the grueling tournament.
Thanks to all the student players and Georgia adults who coached, chaperoned, and volunteered their weekend to produce this spectacular event.
We look forward to seeing many of you great chess players at the less intense, “fun”, tournaments over the next few months. Keep a check here and at the Georgia Chess Website.
